Governmental Affairs
Tripp Scott’s governmental affairs practice is equipped to handle a broad range of issues for clients at the local, state and national levels. The firm is home to a number of former elected officials, and its lawyers have represented clients’ interests before the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, federal agencies and commissions, state legislatures, county commissions, municipal boards, airport authorities, and other governmental entities throughout the country as well.
The firm’s front-line experience in the 2000 presidential election and 2002 Florida redistricting matters included handling complex litigation, concurrently occurring matters in multiple courts, and managing and coordinating the efforts of multiple firms. Our attorneys had a unique position in the center of these contentious debates and prevailed for their clients in both matters. Our firm also has experience in voting, election laws, and other constitutional claims.
In Broward County, we handle client issues before local governing boards, regulatory agencies, and city commissions. At the state level, our lawyers have handled matters before both the House and Senate and have represented these bodies in litigation matters, including defending the Florida Senate in recent reapportionment matters. During the legislative session, we have representatives in Tallahassee on an ongoing basis.
Other aspects of our governmental affairs practice include:
