ROBERT C. MEACHAM
Director
Meacham represents a wide variety of clients in the fields of construction, business and real estate law, including litigation and transactional representation. Meacham has served as general counsel to the Construction Association of South Florida, and is a frequent lecturer in the areas of construction litigation and Florida's Construction Lien Law. He is co-author of Fifty State Construction Lien and Bond Law (Robert F. Cushman, Ed., 1992), and co-author of Commercial Mortgage Foreclosures in Florida Real Property Litigation (Ann Chittendon, Ed., 1993). He represents a variety of clients including associations, owners, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and entrepreneurs.
Meacham is a native of Fort Lauderdale who has been practicing law for more than 35 years in the areas of construction, business and real estate law. Meacham was a partner in the national firm Dykema Gossett until 1992 when he co-founded the law firm of May, Meacham & Davell, P.A. where he practiced as a founding partner for 26 years. In December 2017, May, Meacham & Davell P.A. was merged into Tripp Scott where Meacham became and currently serves as a director. He was admitted to the Florida bar in 1983, and is admitted to practice in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, with Honors, from the University of Florida in 1980, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in 1983. While attending the University of Florida, Meacham was involved in student government and served as a student senator as well as a member of the Florida Blue Key and Omicron Delta Kappa. During law school, he served as a Member of the Justice Campbell Thornal National Moot Court Board, and he along with another team member won the State of Florida Moot Court Competition in 1983.
Meacham has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1983, and he served on the Florida Bar Board of Governors, Young Lawyers Division. He has been a member of the Broward County Bar Association since 1984. Meacham has served in numerous leadership roles in non-profit organizations including Westminster Academy where he served on Board of Directors from 1996-2010 and served as Chairman from 2002 to 2010. Meacham also served on the Steering and Executive Committees for Palau Organization's Beachfest, and was a member Habitat for Humanity’s Land Development/Acquisition Committee from 2012 until 2017. Meacham is presently a title agent for Old Republic National Title Insurance Company and First American Title Insurance Company.
Recent Significant Verdicts/Judgments and Transactions:
2013: Jo. K. Pulvermacher v. Frickel Family, LLC, Palm Beach County, Florida, Case No.: 502007CA 010801MB: Successfully defended a property owner at trial in an easement dispute involving claims of encroachment and obtained a judgment interpreting and enforcing a boundary easement favorable to the Firm’s client.
2013: Heartwood 47, LLC v. Brae Burn Estates, LLC, et al., Indian River County, Florida, Case No. 2007 CA11300: Obtained after trial a judgment in excess of $1.7 million dollars; upheld on appeal.
2015: Closed on the acquisition of the assets of an Ohio-company for an international machine company client with primary offices in Florida.
2015: Closed on the acquisition and financing of two international-flag hotel sites for prominent hotel developer clients located in South Florida.
2015: Closed on the financing and acquisition of, and all ancillary agreements relating to, a prominent South Florida marina.
2016: Smith v. Balfour Beatty Construction, LLC, Broward County, Florida Circuit Court – Obtained Summary Judgment in favor of defendant construction manager in multi-million dollar personal injury action.
