Reid A. Cocalis is a director with Tripp Scott. His litigation practice encompasses complex commercial litigation, medical malpractice, healthcare law, and product liability. Cocalis has over 20 years of experience practicing law and is a certified arbitrator. Prior to joining Tripp Scott, he was a partner at Conrad Scherer, where he led the firm’s litigation team and handled a wide variety of cases, including mega-financial frauds, personal injury, admiralty, libel and slander, administrative law, and medical malpractice. He is particularly well-versed in cases involving science and medicine.
In addition to his experience handling high-level complex litigation cases, Cocalis has been part of the recovery efforts undertaken in state court on behalf of victims of the infamous billion-dollar Ponzi scheme orchestrated by Scott Rothstein. Notably, on behalf of 34 clients who suffered over $186 million in damages, Cocalis’ was part of the team that achieved a historic settlement, returning investors what is said to be the highest percentage of recovery for victims of a Ponzi scheme. News outlets described the settlement as a "huge victory" and a "landmark" lawsuit.
