Tripp Scott Law Firm And National Pollster Scott Rasmussen Launch Florida Freedom Index
DeSantis leads 54% to 44% and Rubio leads Demings 51% to 46%
Tripp Scott, announced a unique partnership with Scott Rasmussen to launch the state’s first ever Florida Freedom Index. The Florida Freedom Index is a quarterly review of the personal, economic and educational freedoms in the sunshine state compared to other states around the nation.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, freedoms long taken for granted have been under a microscope in Florida and around the nation. The Florida Freedom Index will measure key indexes including regulation, size of government, taxation, educational choice and availability, voting rights and statewide leadership. These elements will compare with other blue states.
Tripp Scott CEO Ed Pozzuoli stated, “In Florida, we have seen unprecedented population, jobs and business growth because our principled state leadership has built an environment that is welcoming to everyone from retirees to major corporations. Everything from our tax policy to school choice is a blueprint for those looking to escape the suffocating policies of California, New York and Illinois.”
Key findings include:
• On key measures of parental control over education and regulation of businesses, Floridians think the state offers more freedom than other states:
- Fifty-two percent (52%) believe Florida gives parents more control than other states
- Fifty-six percent (56%) believe Florida’s tax and regulatory policies attract businesses from other states
• Broad approval of Governor DeSantis’ leadership over the last few years.
- Seventy percent (70%) approve of his decision to quickly reopen schools during the pandemic.
-- Overall, voters in the state believe that Florida has hit the right balance in terms of parental control over education.
-- Roughly equal numbers believe that Florida gives parents too much control, too little control, or about the right amount of control
- Seventy-four percent (74%) approve of his decision to quickly reopen Florida businesses.
- Sixty-three percent (63%) approve of his handling of Hurricane Ian preparation and recovery efforts.
- Fifty-three percent (53%) approve of DeSantis sending illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard.
- The Governor’s job approval currently sits at 61%, with just 33% disapproval.
- DeSantis leads Crist in the governor’s race by a margin of 54% to 44% among likely voters.
- This is likely because of the high levels of approval for the way he handled the pandemic and other recent crises.
• In the Senate race, Senator Marco Rubio leads challenger Val Demings by a 51% to 46% margin.
