“We will make America safe, strong, prosperous, powerful, and free again.” — President-Elect Donald J. Trump
Dear Gen Z,
The 2024 election of Donald J. Trump will be a defining moment in your lifetime.
In 1984, as a 20-year-old first-time voter and newly naturalized citizen, I was elated by the landslide victory of Ronald Reagan. Not knowing the significance of this at the time, in retrospect it is clear: Ronald Reagan’s presidency was a defining moment in my lifetime.
President Reagan told us that hard work and ingenuity and limited government begets prosperity and peace and freedom – and spreads the hope across the world that freedom, both economic and personal, is obtainable for all. He reminded us that this sentiment is a core American value underscoring the reality of American Exceptionalism.
This nation, founded in faith, individual freedom, and personal responsibility is truly unique in the world. Adherence to these principles made America great – that is, safe, strong, prosperous, powerful, and free. We young Americans could start successful careers, buy a home, raise a family, and enjoy life in safety and peace. And we did.
Somewhere along the way, your generation was told that America is not so special; that Americans are not so special; that hard work is unfair and doesn’t really benefit you. Our moral fabric was torn, the overreaching power of government was escalated, the economy suffered, and you were left drifting — feeling that the American Dream is out of reach.
Gen Z, in “President-re-elect” Trump you have your own Ronald Reagan. I now see for you the safe, strong, prosperous, powerful, and free America that he has promised and so many previous generations enjoyed. With his policies and your hard work, ingenuity, faith, and pride in America you can live your wildest American dream.
I am so happy for you.
