Tripp Scott’s Paul Lopez Reappointed to Florida’s Judicial Nominating Commission
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 9, 2019 – Tripp Scott today announced that Paul Lopez, COO of Tripp Scott and chair of the firm’s litigation practice, was reappointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). In his prior service on this JNC, Lopez has served as the chair and the vice-chair. Gov. DeSantis is the fourth governor to appoint Lopez to this JNC, and Lopez was recommended by the Florida Bar to this post. Upon completion of this term in 2023, Lopez will have served for over 20 years on the Judicial Nominating Commission.
Judicial Nominating Commissions select nominees to fill judicial vacancies within the Florida court system. Each judicial nominating commission has nine members. Five members are appointed directly by the governor, and the Florida Bar sends nominations to the governor to fill the remaining four spots.
Lopez has a national litigation and trial practice and regularly argues before federal and state courts on behalf of his various nationwide and local clients.
He has successfully litigated and tried numerous high-exposure jury and non-jury trials in both federal and state court throughout his career and has developed a reputation for being one of South Florida’s best trial lawyers and litigators.
