Tripp Scott Attorneys Named Fort Lauderdale Illustrated’s 2020 list of Top Lawyers

Tripp Scott today announced that Paul Lopez, COO of the firm, and  Dan Taylor, a director with the firm,  were selected by their peers to Fort Lauderdale Illustrated’s 2020 list of Top Lawyers. 

This list will appear in the October 2020 issue of Fort Lauderdale Illustrated. The research for the Top Lawyers list was created by PRS (Professional Research Services) and is based on an online peer-review survey sent out to all licensed attorneys within Broward County. Thousands of votes were cast honoring excellence in all areas of practice. Inclusion in Fort Lauderdale Illustrated’s Top Lawyers is based solely upon one’s standing within their peer group. Listings in Top Lawyers cannot be purchased.

Lopez has successfully litigated and tried numerous high-exposure jury and non-jury trials in both federal and state court throughout his career and has developed a reputation for being one of South Florida’s best trial lawyers and litigators.  He has tried a wide variety of cases throughout his career, including claims for sexual harassment and race discrimination in the workplace, violations of Florida’s Non-Compete Statute 542.335, violations of the Federal and Florida Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), Florida’s Private and Public Whistle Blower Acts, business partnership disputes, breach of licensing and royalty agreements, fraudulent misrepresentation, intellectual property disputes, Qui Tam actions, claims brought under Florida’s Uniform Trade Secrets Act, Florida’s Fraudulent Conveyance Act and under Florida’s Unfair Competition Statute, tortious interference, violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, violations of the Family Medical Leave Act, and violations of the Federal Lanham Act.  He has successfully defended a number of class actions brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act and in connection with Florida’s Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act on behalf of various clients.  He has handled scores of evidentiary hearings for his clients to successfully secure or defend against the entry of preliminary injunctions in various business and employment disputes. In 2016, Lopez secured one of the Top 100 Verdicts in the U.S. by obtaining a verdict and judgment on behalf of two NY Limited Partnerships in the amount of $30 million against various defendants under the federal civil RICO statutes.

Taylor is a Martindale-Hubbell AV-Rated attorney with more than 45 years of legal experience providing clients throughout South Florida with strategic counsel on governmental, regulatory, environmental and land-use issues. He also serves as the chair of the firm’s commercial real estate practice. He has experience in handling complex permitting, land-use and compliance issues and has represented Florida's largest recycler of solid waste and construction and demolition debris. He has also assisted major national retailers and other large companies in meeting requirements for expansion to South Florida and has successfully represented manufacturing and construction companies in regulatory compliance matters.

Tripp Scott's Paul Lopez Admitted to American College of Trial Lawyers

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., February 28, 2023 – Tripp Scott today announced that Paul Lopez has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in North America.

The induction ceremony at which Lopez became a Fellow took place recently before an audience of approximately 525 during the recent Spring Meeting of the College in Key Biscayne, Florida.
