Prior to joining Tripp Scott as a director, Christopher D. Barber worked with the law firm of May, Meacham & Davell, P.A. from 1996-2017, practicing in the area of commercial litigation, with an emphasis on construction law. Barber has extensive experience in all aspects of construction law, including: negotiation and drafting of contracts (on behalf of owners, contractors and subcontractors); advising clients during all phases of construction; preparing and asserting claims for defects, delays or extra work; preparation, filing and foreclosing construction liens; and representation of sureties, owners and contractors in payment and performance bond claims. In addition to construction law, Barber’s practice includes a wide variety of other business litigation matters, including commercial foreclosures and contractual disputes.
Barber graduated from the University of Kansas in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism, and in 1989 with his juris doctorate. He earned a master’s degree in biblical and theological studies summa cum laude from Knox Theological Seminary in 1997. Barber is the co- author with Dr. Warren Gage of The Story of Joseph and Judah. Barber and his wife have five children and live in Boca Raton.
